The LDX-218 seems to be fully waterproof and can handle freezing temperatures, extreme heat hasn’t been tested yet but it will likely not be affected by it.

FPV Gimbal – AOS 5-5.5 – LDX-218
This is the base design and is intended to be used with the 20mm Universal Camera Mount. Guide for 3D printing the gimbal design here. Files on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5040239
FPV Gimbal – Rotor Riot CL1 + HD1 + XR – LDX-218
This is the base design and is intended to be used with the 18mm Universal Camera Mount. It will fit both the normal and XR versions, the base is specific to the CL1 and HD1 as they have different bolt patterns. Guide for 3D printing the gimbal design here. How-To 3D Print a FPV Gimbal
This is a quick run down on how to print a Medlin Drone FPV Gimbal. Print in TPU, 100% infill, 0.2mm resolution, supports enabled, print on the side such that the hinge profile is not sliced by layers, reference the pictures bellow. I recommend using ‘harder’ TPU filament, as it aids in stiffness for theContinue reading “How-To 3D Print a FPV Gimbal”
Do You Need a Head Tracker?
No, there’s a limitless selection of alternatives that will work to control the gimbal/servo, and you can also set up a switch that changes control of the gimbal from various inputs. For example, a three-position switch can change control between the head tracker, a slider on the transmitter, and a constant value or Betaflight functionContinue reading “Do You Need a Head Tracker?”
FPV Gimbal – T-Motor FT5 MKII V2 HD – LDX-218
This is a designfor the T-Motor FT5 MKII V2 HD, I have chosen to reverse the drone and use the back as the front in order to not move the DJI Air Unit, but I am including options for both normal and reverse orientation. Guide for 3D printing the gimbal design here. Files on Thingiverse:Continue reading “FPV Gimbal – T-Motor FT5 MKII V2 HD – LDX-218”
DJI Digital – FPV Gimbal
I finally have built and tested a FPV gimbal with DJI digital. I have not adopted DJI digital and have so far stuck with analog, for many reasons. However, it has become very prevalent in the FPV community and industry, so I have included support for it in my designs and am testing with it.Continue reading “DJI Digital – FPV Gimbal”
FPV Gimbal – Camera Mount Options
Many of the open source gimbal designs share the same 20mm bearing housing, this means that for most designs the only frame-specific part is the base, while the top/camera mount is cross-compatible between all designs that share the 20mm bearing housing. This doesn’t mean that they will all work perfectly on any base/frame, this justContinue reading “FPV Gimbal – Camera Mount Options”
Universal Head Tracker V2
Prebuilt head trackers available here: https://medlin-drone-store.myshopify.com/products/pre-built-head-tracker This is a case and mount for an Arduino based Open-Source Head Tracker. This is the the version two based off a different design. There are mount designs for both Fat Shark and DJI, as well as a universal mount. Flight Tips – First Flight with FPV Gimbal
This is a set of tips and recommendations for trying out a head tracking gimbal for the first time. I recommend setting up the gimbal to have a conservative range of motion, at least for your first flights. You can simply and quickly adjust range of motion via the ‘weight’ on the servo channel inContinue reading “Flight Tips – First Flight with FPV Gimbal”
