FPV Gimbal – Universal Camera Mount

This is a FPV gimbal design that accepts any camera via the standard action camera ‘tab’ mount. This is compatible with all existing kits and tutorials and with almost all of the existing Medlin Drone gimbal designs, mounting on the standard Medlin Drone 20mm bearing housing, and will work with analog, DJI, and Shark Byte, often without need for any extension cable. I may be doing a full switch to this style of gimbal design…

Note: If you prefer the servo horn and GoPro Screw to be switched to the other side, you can easily ‘mirror’ both the Universal Mount and the Base in your slicing software (such as Cura) to switch the side that they are on.

UPDATE: I have fully switched to the Universal Mount for standard single-axis FPV gimbals.

Updated Pics:

I had major concerns about vibrations and lack of rigidity for this style of gimbal that caused me to not explore it until now. However, through testing and refining the design, this is just and strong and stiff as my previous designs.

I didn’t intend for it to look the way it does, trying to optimize size with range of motion and weight while maintaining rigidity. Through all of that I arrived at this, I think it unintentionally looks like a droid dog, may call it D.O.G (Dxx Oxxx Gimbal). This style of design is also much more compact for transport.

It is still in early design and will have many iterations to come, I plan to experiment with no-linkage designs, gearing, direct drive, and really just keep experimenting in general. However, I am happy to say that the current design functions very well.
